The vineyards benefiting from the Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero are located within a stretch of the Duero River basin, about 115 kilometers long and 35 meters wide, located at the confluence of the provinces of Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid.
Begins approximately in the east, San Esteban de Gormaz and extends to Onesimus Quintanilla in the west.
In late 2005, the crops of the area constituted approximately 20% of the full extent of cultivation of grapes in Spain.
